Privacy Policy
The short version: we don't collect your data. Here's the long version.

No Data Collection
Timeline-O-Tron collects no personal data, no usage analytics, and no telemetry. We don't know who you are, what timelines you make, or how often you use the app.
Local Storage Only
All your timeline data is stored locally on your device. Your files are yours. We never see them, access them, or transmit them anywhere.
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud, your timelines sync across your Apple devices using Apple's iCloud infrastructure. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
AI Features
When you use AI timeline generation, your prompt is sent directly from your device to the AI provider you choose (OpenAI or Anthropic). No data passes through our servers. Your API keys are stored in macOS Keychain — we couldn't read them even if we wanted to.
No Third-Party SDKs
Timeline-O-Tron contains no advertising frameworks, no tracking pixels, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party code that phones home. The app communicates with the network only when you explicitly ask it to (AI generation), and only with the provider you choose.

Information We Collect
None. Timeline-O-Tron does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. We do not use cookies, device identifiers, IP addresses, or any form of tracking.
App Store Analytics
Apple may collect anonymized, aggregated analytics about app usage and crash reports through the App Store, subject to your device settings. This is standard for all App Store apps and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of sharing analytics in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
AI Timeline Generation
The AI generation feature is entirely optional. When you choose to use it:
- You provide your own API key for OpenAI or Anthropic.
- Your API key is stored exclusively in macOS Keychain, the system's encrypted credential store.
- When you generate a timeline, your prompt (either a topic or pasted text) is sent directly from your device to the AI provider's API. This communication is encrypted via HTTPS.
- No data is routed through, stored on, or accessible to our servers. We operate no servers.
- Your use of OpenAI or Anthropic's APIs is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms of service.
iCloud Sync
If you choose to use iCloud sync, your timeline documents are stored in your personal iCloud Drive using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We have no access to your iCloud storage. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Stored on Your Device
Timeline-O-Tron stores the following data locally on your device:
- Timeline documents — JSON files in locations you choose (e.g., Documents folder, iCloud Drive).
- AI-generated timelines — Saved to
~/Library/Application Support/Timeline/AI Generated/on macOS. - AI API keys — Stored in macOS Keychain (encrypted by the operating system).
- Recent documents list — Up to 5 file references stored locally for convenience.
All of this data remains entirely under your control. Deleting the app removes the app itself; your documents remain where you saved them.
Children's Privacy
Timeline-O-Tron does not collect any data from any users, including children. The app is suitable for all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Given that our policy is "we collect nothing," we don't anticipate dramatic revisions.
